November 2017

Today, Years 3 and 4 went to visit the Roman museum in Chester. They had a great time. Even on this bitterly cold day they marched around the streets of Chester, as Roman soldiers.

After watching 'Ghost Dances' by 'Ballet Rambert' Year 6 choreographed some Viking dances. Mrs Culshaw was very impressed with Year 6. Their ability to work as a team, balance and add some real Viking fire is to be admired. Well done Year 6

Hillside are always very thankful to the RNLI volunteers who come in and speak to us. We learn about how to stay safe when you live close to the sea. However, we have a lot of fun whilst doing it.

Today was the start of Hillside's anti-bullying week. To start this off the whole school enjoyed assembly with Miss Thompson and then got totally mixed up! Each Year group worked with a different child to produce an anti-bullying poster. Then, just for fun, they shared a story. Here are Year 1 and 4 working together.

Today, for friendship week, every child wrote a message about how they are going to be a better friend. Once the message was written it was attached to a balloon. Then, as a whole school, we released the balloons. What an experience!

Foundation Stage went to Eastham Woods today. This was for many reasons including: seasonal investigation, playing games, finding different leaves and seeds, feeding the squirrels and having lots of fun! Thank you to all the families that were able to come with us.

Year 1 have been learning all about ordinal numbers. To do this they went outside and enjoyed some races. When they had finished the race the children ordered the racers.

Foundation 1 have far too much fun at school. It must be thanks to the amazing team that work with them to make everything a game!

Burwardsley Residential Year 5

It's not just year 5 who have been having all of the fun this week! Yesterday, year 6 spent an exciting day immersing themselves into their new topic on the Anglo Saxons and Vikings. The morning included baking an authentic Viking bread recipe (delicious we might add!) and writing using the runic alphabet. In afternoon, we donned our warmest clothes and had a fabulous time outside in our school forest den building and creating Artwork using the natural habitat.

Year 2 are enjoying maths outside today. They are exploring arrays with their partner. Great pictures Year 2: you must have had a clever day

Year 4 really challenged all of their 5Rs. They went outside and had to complete a set of challenges. All of the challenges needed each 5R for them to be successful. You can tell on the photos that Year 4 were definitely using them well.
